Save While Planning Your Next Trip Overseas

When traveling, most Americans stick to the states for many reasons. For one, it’s cheaper to travel within the United States, and most locations can be reached by car. America offers many excellent vacation spots with competitive costs. New York, California, and Florida Hotels, among many others, offer beautiful accommodations, and most cities have a multitude of attractions that will meet the most picky of interests. Perhaps this year you should switch it up and try something different.

If you’re going overseas you’ll need to exchange your currency. One big mistake people make is using airport currency exchange kiosks. Don’t do this, because the exchange rates will cost way too much. Also, don’t use your credit cards unless it’s an emergency situation, since you can get hit with some hefty charges. Instead, use a prepaid card or debit card. Many banks overseas have partnerships with banks in America. Research your bank for overseas affiliates. If they do, you can withdraw money at a much lower rate. Save by taking out larger amounts at a time. If you’re making repeated smaller withdrawals, it can cost you a lot. Figure out what you’ll need over a time period, and stick to the fewest number of withdrawals. However, since you will have large sums of money on you at different points in times, make sure you have travel insurance, incase the money is lost or stolen.

Check out all of the travel deals for flights and hotel accommodations that you can get though online travel sites. They are an excellent resource for booking your trip and offer some competitive quotes on hotels, transportation, and tours. Also, look into vacationing during the off-season. This will save you thousands in your overall travel costs. Plan ahead and figure out what the peak travel season is for your country of destination and book your vacation in the weeks just before or after this period.

Flying overseas can be a scary and costly proposition, but don’t let this misconception stop you from experiencing something new and exciting, while partaking in some great savings.

When I was younger, to save money, we used to just go to the state across the bridge for the day. It’s cheap and inexpensive.
